What Hit Song of 2005 Are You?

My 2005 Song Is

Since You've Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson

"But since you've been gone
I can breathe for the first time
I'm so moving on"

In 2005, you moved on.

Dominick the Donkey

I've had this song stuck in my head all Christmas season - Dominick the Donkey (the Italian Christmas Donkey). Have you ever heard the song? I'm from the midwest, and I'd never heard it until I moved out East. The first time I heard it, I would have sworn the lyrics were "it's time to lick the donkey" - only later (after looking up the lyrics on the web) did I find out the lyrics actually were "it's Dominick the donkey". It really is a hilarious song. I found a site nice enough to add a loop of the music to the lyrics. I hope I can infect your brain with this wonderful (wonderfully strange) Christmas song! Check it out. Dominick the Donkey.

Simple joys in life

I'm always amazed at how my cats are entertained by the simpliest of things. Of course they don't want to play with the fancy motorized toys I get them - they want to play in a cardboard box or with a crumpled piece of aluminum foil. Here is a perfect example of such simple enjoyment.

I put a bird feeder right outside one of my living room windows. My cats will spend hours waiting and watching for the birds to come and dangle from the feeder. I didn't realize a simple bird feeder would give them such happiness. I wish I could find a similar parallel in my life. It seems we go though life needing more and more complex toys to entertain us - email, IPods, DVDs, etc. Remember when we were kids and a mud puddle was all we needed to have fun? I feel like I have to simplify my life and look for that foil ball to play with.
